Hyundai Longboard Christchurch video

A quick litle tease from the Christchurch round of the longboard tour, featuring Taylor Jenson.

Christchurch HLBPT - tick

The Christchurch round of the Hyundai Pro Longboard Tour is all over. We had a pretty fun weekend away with interesting surf over the Saturday and Sunday. Day 1 was held at Sumner and day 2 moved to Brighton. I'll post up the video link soon, but heres a couple of Isnaps.

Day 1 - Sumner, pouring rain in the morning. Richard Reid bush lurks for the shot.

Day 2, Brighton Pier. Sunny but super strong onshore - messy

I won't even begin to talk about how much coffee we drink when on the road. How ever the Christchurch - Wanaka drive is one that lacks a good espresso. The only advice I can give is if you're in need the machine in the Caltex at Omarama provides the needed hit, proper coffee cup is provided too.

Carrey Holinger/Sparrow Fish

Perhaps a few of you reading this blog will have had the pleasure of meeting the one and only Carrey Holinger. I met Carey in Salt Lake City in 2005, straight out of high school. Carrey is one of the most eccentric bastards out and is renowned for being that guy.

I just caught up with the young man who is now living in Toronoto and has the best jesus hair I have ever seen. He's doing bits and pieces and calls him self sparrow fish.

Down at the swimming hole

After some unseasonably cold weather last week, its starting to warm back up again and the argues task of taking a dip at the local swimming hole is coming back into the daily routine.

I had a couple of ideas for shooting some imagery that documents this favourite past time and will be working on a series over the next wee while, heres a few sneak peaks.

Matt Scoles

I just so happened to be passing through Alexandra yesterday afternoon and thought I'd hang around to shoot some photos with the one and only Matt Scoles.

After Matt had clocked off we went for a little walk into the hills and searched for some sort of unique downhill shot. Alex still hits me as having one of the most bizarre landscapes in New Zealand that is relatively un touched in terms of the mountainbiking potential. There is a bunch of single track into the weirdest places, but every time we turn a corner we both get surprised.

We got some shots in the bag that I'm pretty stoked on and even came accross some typical Alex teenagers who had rolled a car doing skidzzzz bro. Great times.

Matts actually staring at the Ambulance/Fire engine coming up the hill to the kids that rolled there car.

I made Matt push up some big hills...

Matt with the town Icon... Epic Clock.

And when I was confronted with a real Buffalos head last week I just couldnt resist the opportunitiy for a photo. Thats a big beast.

Reason Films/Japan

reasonfilms.net

Whilst we enjoy our fun filled summer days, on the other side of the world where its too cold to swim with dead calfs that look like fresh water stingrays the snowboard lads are scoring powder in Japan. Ben Ryan from Reason Films is one of the crew that are over there and is doing daily updates at the Reason site. Its neat, lots of good blogs and photos courtusy of the one and only Jeremy Thorns. Ben has just jumped on the HVX boat and has linked me some sweet imagery, its clever. You should see some soon.

timpierceimages.com

Tim Pierce Senior in all his glory.

My old man, Tim Pierce ( Senior ) has just published his first website - timpierceimages.com - Confusing as it has been growing up with the same name as my father, it now adds another level of confusion that he has picked up photography! He primarily shoots landscapes and its been pretty interesting bouncing photography opinions off him, two complete different gernerations with complete different views on imagery!

Down at the Gorge

A jump jam went down at Gorge Road last night, which was part of the Week of Wonder - A week long series of mountainbike events coming straight out of Queenstown, somehow organised by the one and only Seb Kemp.

It was undoubtedly the biggest jam yet, with a whole load of spectators, bands, sausages, beer and all sorts being thrown down everywhere. As quoted by Lester Perry ' I think Gorge Road is one of the best public jump parks in the world '

I was filming with my video camera, and will be doing an edit for myself and also ORB TV. So keep your eyes on the horizons. For now here's a few snap shots.

February!

I have a feeling 2009 is going to go incredibly fast, I have no idea where it went but January is already all over. I've been shooting segments for a show called the 'Thrill Seekers Guides', which is a programme that airs in the UK and is produced by production company Friday ( www.friday02.com ). Its been a blast, so far I've ticked off a skating guide with Beech Thurlow Meyer, and a Mountainbike guide with Ben Finney. Heres some shottas.

Beech Thurlow Meyer, rinsed after a full days shredding Wanaka, Queenstown and Aarowtown parks. Beech shreds and is taking some nice photos too.

Theres this little number, a dope spot for future shoots.

Get your hands on the latest Revolution, Ben Finney got a little profile in there with some words and shot by me from a trip we did last year.
