Spring time

The seasons are starting to change and I'm definitely calling that spring is just around the corner. The weathers starting to warm up much to our likings, and its time to start thinking about bikes. I've got a summer bike film project on the go, and will be giving everyone the heads up when we have the official press release ready. On Saturday I also shot a little clip to show you guys what Lismore parks shaping up like... I'll have that online shortly, check back here for the link. Heres some random Isnaphammers.

Jaimie Thompson.. One of the bike park diggers.

Seb Kemp came and rolled for the weekend. Jolly good.

A good days riding means a good few beers.

I came accross these in the forrest... Someones painted some rather crazy little shrooms. Someone has too much time on their hands!

And a random Thorns Snap.. You'll never guess what I'm filming.

Just like a cat.
MDTV Episode 15 - How to make a Plague Snowboard.

I am officialy 3/4 of the way through my MDTV workload. Episode 15 gives you an insight into what goes into making a snowboard. We went to New Zealand Company Plague Snowboards workshop and filmed a few of the stages of production with owner Nick Kirkland, followed by a quick shred at the stash up the Remarks with Alex Hughes. Go check it.

MDTV Episode 15 - How to make a Plague Snowboard.

Northface Heli Trip.

On Monday night I got a phone call to see if I wanted to go shoot stills on a Heli trip for Northface. I jumped at the chance, and just over half a day later, we were in the air.

I picked up Eric Themel and Damon Hayler from outside the Speights Ale House, and we were on our way to Queenstown. After transferring between a couple of vehicles at the Queenstown Airport, and then an hours driving out past Glenorchy we got picked up.

The plan was to spend the day on Clarks Glacier. The glacier was absolutely amazing but unfortunately alot of the terrain we wanted to ride was too dangerous. We still managed to get a few shots. Hopefully we'll get a little spot in Aus/NZ Snowboarder, belows some sneak peaks from the day that unfolded.

Heli Huddle, Pick up just outside of Glenorchy. Damon Hayler and Eric Themel.

One of hundreds of flying photos i popped off.

If only... Crew stare at the Glacier. There were so many amazing Ice forms we wanted to ride, but due to the dangers of Crevices, we couldn't touch 99% of them.

I got rigged up to hang out the side of the heli and shoot. We shot one small line, was no easy task trying to co ordinate the pilot with the rider... Damon watches Eric Drop in.

One of the throw aways.. Damon doing a shucker infront of some ice.

More Scenics.

Me and Damon waiting for round 5.

Damon after one of the best lines of the day... Ice ride/surf the wall on the right. Just don't fall over or you may go into a crevice.

MDTV Episode 14 - Snow Park Secrets

MDTV Episode 14 - Snow Park Secrets.

I've been working on this one for a while, getting a few different shots every time I'm up park. This episode came from not being able to jib to save myself, and enjoying stuffing around and riding different features. The idea was born when Pooch and I were filming a gap from a hip in the park, to out of the park, I then stumbled accross some other stuff, and it just kinda came together. Go check it out, most enjoyable episode yet. I also shot stills at the same time, and did a little article for Manual Magazine, check that out when it hits the shelves.

Snow Park Secrets Hammers

I finally ticked off something I've been wanting to do for a couple of years yesterday. A couple of summers back i was part of a group that built a bike track off the back of Snow Park. Near the top theres a dope road gap, and I've always wanted to get there when there is enough snow. Yesterday we scored it, so I took Bevan Hall and Stef Zeestraten there. Blue skies, pow landings, bike gaps, hammers... Shot video and stills.

Bevan Hall with the take off of the road gap in the background.

Bevan got the shot.. Real dope late back 1.. Look out for it somewhere in the future.

A sneak peak of me getting a shred! Good times.... thanks for the photo dutchy.

Cardrona 19/08...

Today was a very memorable day at Cardrona, lets keep em stacking! Hit up the front country with the two dutchies, Stef Zeestraten and brother Tim Z. We didn't really know what would unfold, but the sky was blue, and once we hit the snow we couldn't believe how lucky we were. Dope wind blown fresh, no one round, and an hour or two hiking later we got dope lines! We hit up a zone I've been wanting to for a while and it didn't dissapoint. Dutchy hit a big cliff, we shuckered, and ended on road runs. Heres some sneak peaks.

Stef Z always knows where his wallet is.

AlMad.. Enough said.

Some frustrating snow to hike in.. Me trailing Tim Z, in the 2XL Robett Hollis hand me down snake skin.. Believe it or not my other jackets are at the dry cleaners!

Stef Z putting in the work... Word.

Our Lines coming into the new basin. Best turns ever.

Sneak Peak of Dutchys Cliff.

AlMad rides the big frozen wave... Sick!

Dutchy on the toes.

And Wallow Soul Shred.

Lismore Park Sneak Peak

Despite the good snow base on the hills, town has been relatively dry, which has meant that the new Lismore Bike Park is starting to harden up nicely. Its still a wee while away from opening, but the boys have been putting in some work and its not far away. Heres a couple of photos of me testing it out.. Photos Stef Z.. Shot!

Me on the last jump in the outside line.. Tim Z doing some sort of thug hitler thing...

On the first jump of the basin line.. yeah

MDTV Ep13

MDTV Ep 13 - Billabong Snowstock

The Billabong Snowstock has been and gone, it was a pearla of an event, and despite atrocious weather on both days the event was dope. Definitely some of the coldest wind I've felt, but the boys still threw down. All sorts of highlights including Wes Walsh dominating the jibbing, and doing dope back 7's and attempting double flips in the big air, along with the 15 year old Sebastien Toutant sealing the deal with a double cork 10. Sick! Vaughn Brookfield also popped off a whole lotta dope photos, theres a few sneak peaks down the bottom here.

Lismore Pump Track

To the right, packing in the new pump track.

Spent a bit of time working on the new pump track today at the Lismore bike park. The park isnt open for business yet, but it won't be too long. Everything is shaping up nicely. I'll get in there and take some proper pics soon. The pump track is dope tho! for those of you who don't know, pump tracks are circular tracks that have rollers and berms in them, you dont pedal, and just generate your speed of pumping, good feeling and anyone can ride it!

Newsweek Episode 12

Newsweek Episode 12 - Billabong Snowstock

12 down, only 8 to go. We clocked off NZsnowboard.com Newsweek Episode 12 at day 1 of the Billabong Snowstock( Which I also filmed for MDTV, and will be online very shortly) . Aside from this, we did all sorts of carry on as the weather became atrocious, plus a bit of footy of shredding TC with myself and blinky, great times all round. The next newsweek will be coming to you from the World Premiere of 'Thats it, Thats all'. The most anticipated movie of the year, along with an exclusive photo exhibition with Tim Zim. Word.

Treble Cone + Stills

Hit up Treble Cone today to get a cheeky bit of fresh and some photos for a change, before the madness starts with the billabong snowstock. A quick stop for sub of the day ( beef, preetty average) and Liam Ryan and I went for a tickle.. We sat in a wind tunnel for about half an hour, definately the coldest/iciest I've been in a while, but we got some cool shit. It was like the inside of a tornado, heres some sneak peaks.

Right in there is the little hip we shot in the Tornado.

Wind Art. Its Dancing.

The throw aways.. fun method.

A quick build on the way out and liam hand drag to drop kinda thing on this rock, with a sweet kea.
