Hyundai Longboard Nationals 2009

I've just returned back to Wanaka after what was a very interesting week away. Regan Low from NZGreenroom Productions approached me to be part of the team that documents the Hyundai Longboard Nationals. On the 3rd/4th of Jan the first round took place at The Mount on some very flat surf, how ever we got the job done. We were working on a News piece, web edit, and a feature television documentary on the entire series that will air in March.

We had a team of three camera operators for the two days, ( Along with Trinity Ludlow, who was editing/interviewing ) and it was amazing to be working with a dedicated crew, as apposed to the one man team. Regan has built a dolly that far surpasses the one that Kelly Mcgarry and I built in Nelson, we got some rad shots with it.

Heres a little tease from our coverage over at surf.co.nz

I'll be floating around NZ for most of summer looking for freelance film and photo work, as at this stage TakeOne is not happening, so if you need anything done get in touch. Below are a few Isnaps from the last journey.

Regan Low the Director of Photography packs up a bunch of the kit in Auckland.

We filmed some interviews at the Surf Museum within The Mount surf shop, definitely worth a look. Lots of historical pieces of NZ surfing in there.

CJs Sony getting the job done.

Regan Low ( DOP ) and Matt ( Runner/assistant ) at the nationals.

The Hyundai packed perfectly to the brim by Regan, the production crew has the Santa Fe for the months of the nationals, its a rad vehicle.

I managed to luck out and get the exit seat on the way back, footspace is choice!
